Gypsum and the groundwater Directive

Reducing the impact of human activity on the freshwater quality is an important topic at European level. Sulphate is a parameter to be taken into account in the derivation of threshold values by the member states when it is present in the groundwater body as the result of human activities.

FGD Gypsum: a product for the long term ?

Vatenfall AB, complete with its business operations in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland and Germany, is now the fourth largest power supply company and the biggest district heating provider in Europe. The group produces FGD gypsum as a by-product of electricity generation based on the use of coal and lignite.
